Robe : rubis profond, reflet fuschia.

Wine Advocate #174 – Dec 2007
The 2004 Val de Flores Malbec was made in consultation with Michel Rolland. The grapes were sourced from a 50+ year old vineyard in the Vista Flores region of Mendoza. The wine was aged for 14 months in new French oak and bottled unfiltered. Opaque purple-colored, it offers an alluring perfume of pain grille, pencil lead, blueberry, and black cherry jam. This leads to a full-bodied, smoothly-textured, elegant Malbec with gobs of flavor, silky tannins concealed under a blanket of sweet fruit, and a long, pure finish. Built to last, it will unfurl over the next 6-8 years and drink well through 2030.

Wine Advocate #180 – Dec 2008
The 2005 Malbec is more evolved and broader on the palate than its younger sibling as well as smoother in texture. However, it does not have as much aging potential although it is a powerful effort by any measure. It should be at its best from 2012 to 2023.
These top-notch offerings from Val de Flores are known as -The Rolland Collection- after the peripatetic vigneron Michel Rolland who made them. The two Malbecs are first-class.

Wine Advocate #180 – Dec 2008
The 2007 Val de Flores Malbec was sourced from vines over 50 years of age and aged in French oak for 14 months. It is a glass-coating opaque purple color with an expressive bouquet of balsam wood, Asian spices, incense, lavender, black cherry, and blueberry. Full-bodied and mouth-coating, this intensely flavored, impeccably balanced Malbec has the stuffing to evolve for several more years and will offer a drinking window extending from 2013 to 2022.

Wine Advocate #192 – Dec 2010
The purple/black 2006 Malbec reveals a superb bouquet of pain grille, mineral, violets, espresso, black cherry, and black berry. Full-bodied, dense, and massive on the palate, this opulent wine has layers of savory, spicy flavor, great depth and concentration, as well as 6-8 years of aging potential. Cellar this serious effort through 2015 and enjoy it for another 15 years thereafter.

>> INTERNATIONAL WINE CELLAR
(mostly old-vines malbec; aged 14 months in new French oak): Bright saturated ruby. Musky aromas of blackberry, violet, truffle and smoked meat; reductive and rather syrah-like. Lush on entry, then smooth and wild in the middle, with a saline character to its flavors of blackberry, cocoa powder and nutty oak. Very broad and full but not heavy thanks to a lovely combination of sweetness and supporting acidity. Classically dry, resounding finish shows suave tannins and terrific length. This should be a crowd-pleaser.
